When the client expressed an interest in creating a wall sculpture for her Block Island home, iconic "wave imagery came to mind. I had created a work back in 2009, titled "Tsunami", which I thought might be interesting if I modified the design to be wall hung. I used the same method of building the wall hung work.
I did 3 test samples to explore variations of the proposed wall sculpture segments for approval. She chose the one in the middle.
I draw templates for each segment and place them on Tyvek, to create the large template for hanging the work.
I am going to create 2 variations for hanging the segments. One is an arc, the other a stepped variation. This is the arc. You can see the individual templates taped to the table. Those will be transferred to the Tyvel.
Here you can see the templates for the individual segments have been transferred to the Tyvek sheet.
This is the stepped version of the segments in place on Tyvek, before the templates have been transferred.
